Independence Day Celebrations in
Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam Inter-College (OSN),
in Muni-ki-Reti, via Rishikesh, on 15th August 2018

Kumari Somashekhari hoists the National Flag during the Independence Day Celebrations
in Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam Inter-College (OSN), in the presence of
Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda Saraswati, the School Principal, Members of
OSN Management Committee, Teachers and others.

A small, nicely decorated Altar, with a Photo of Gurudev Shri Paramahamsa Omkarananda Saraswati, the Founder of OSN, is ready in the School-Auditorium for
the Independence Day Celebrations.

Kumari Somashekhari, General Secretary Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas,
along with OSN Principal Shri Debasis Das, are lighting Deepas at the Altar of Gurudev.

OSN School-Students sing a patriotic song.

A lovely Garhwali Folk-Dance.

A charming Patriotic Bengali Group Dance by students of Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam.

Another Patriotic Group-Song by OSN School-Students.

OSN School-Students are performing a beautiful dance, paying Tribute to Mother India.

Since Kumari Somashekhari is a professional Bharatanatyam Dancer, she was requested by Teachers to honour Master Siddhant Sharma, student of Class 3 of Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam, with a gift for his success in a dance-competition in a TV Reality Show, where he was selected among the top six contestants on All-India Level and gained huge fame.

Kumari Somashekhari explained to the OSN School-Students the meaning of the Sanskrit words
in the first 2 Verses of Vande Maataram, written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.
In reference to that, Kumari Somashekhari urgently requested the OSN School Students
not to "sell their Souls" in the mad chase after material achievements, but to protect
the natural environment of India and also to incorporate the Divine Sweetness and Nobility
of the True Indian Culture in their lives and behaviour.

After her speech Kumari Somashekhari sang Vande Maataram, in the heart-touching
melody of Raaga Desh, which surprised many in the audience.

Shri Swami Vishveshwarananda Saraswati, President Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas,
encouraged and inspired all the Students with his kind words and his natural charismatic Personality. In his speech Swamiji pointed out, that Education, devoid of divine
and ethical Values, can be dangerous.

The Principal of Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam Inter-College, Shri Debasis Das,
concluded the Independence Day Celebration with his kind Vote of Thanks.
