from the years 2007 to
2009
The first Convocation of the Uttarakhand
Technical University (UTU) was held in a grand style in the Forest
Research Institute, Dehradun, in the Convocation Hall, on 9th
December this year. The teaching of Omkarananda Institute of
Management & Technology and the quality of its MBA students have
been duly recognized among the State Level MBA Institutes for the
years 2007 to 2009. OIMT was ranked as the second best MBA
teaching Institute in the whole State of Uttarakhand. Chintan
Vadgama, a student of OIMT, received the silver medal from Her
Excellency, the Governor of Uttarakhand, Ms. Margaret Alva, on 9th
December 2009.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chauhan, disclosed
that in the year 2006 UTU started with 11 Colleges and 6,000
students. In 2009 the total number of affiliated Colleges with UTU
was 92, with 30,000 students.
The honourable Chancellor and the Governor, Ms.
Margaret Alva, were flanked by the Chief Secretary, Mr. N.S.
Napalchayal, Secretary Technical Education, Mr. Rakesh Kumar, and
Dr. D.S. Chauhan, Mr. Nainwal, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and
Registrar, Dr. Mrityunjay Mishra. The keynote speaker was the
renowned Scientist, Dr. Y.S. Rajan.
The Director of Omkarananda Institute of
Management & Technology, Prof. Dr. Rekha Aggarwala, was in the
Directors' procession, robed in red and gold gowns and caps,
leading the Governor, Chief Guest Dr. Rajan, Vice-Chancellor,
Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and the Members of the Academic Council.
OIMT Dean, Shri Pankaj Bijalwan and Shri Pramod
Uniyal, also attended the ceremony and assisted the students in
getting their gowns and degrees.
The UTU Convocation, together with the
Governor, was a grand show.
