Teachers' Day Celebration
in Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam Inter-College,
Muni-ki-reti, on 15th August 2009,
Report by Miss Anjali Rawat, Student of Class 12

Such is the noble job of teaching, that words are not sufficient to describe the greatness of teachers.

Kabirdas once rightly said:

गुरु गोविन्द दोऊ खड़े काके लागू पाय।
बलिहारी गुरु आपणे गोबिन्द दियो बताय॥

I face both God and my Guru.
Whom should I bow to first?
I first bow to my Guru
because he's the one
who showed me the path to God.

The two School-captains in a lighter mood
That's the reason why 5th September, the birthday of our ex-President and a great teacher, Shri Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, is celebrated as TEACHERS' DAY. This year also the Teachers' Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in our Inter-College. As has been the tradition, the girls and boys of Class 12 dressed up formally in Sarees, trousers and shirts and took up the responsibility of Managing the School, so that Teachers could enjoy their day. The morning assembly was the responsibility of the senior students as well. The school choir was geared up to honour the Teachers. The assembly commenced with the School song, followed by a prayer 'Agyan Ke Andheron Se'. Next, the thought of the day, dedicated to the Teachers, was presented.

A song in praise of the Teachers
The Principal for the day, a student from Class 12, Master Shubham Chaudhary, addressed the students, asking them to maintain the discipline throughout the day and wished all the Teachers a very Happy Teachers' Day. This was followed by a speech by Miss Aanchal Garg of Class 12, who told us about the great sacrifices of our hard working Teachers.

After this, the School Captain Miss Anjali Rawat and Master Prakhar Pant, both from Class 12, took over the stage and conducted the Card giving Ceremony. All the Teachers were given very beautiful cards, made especially by their students. The morning programme ended with the National Anthem. Immediately after the assembly the 'Teachers' of 5th September, i.e. Class 12 students, moved to their allotted classes.

Senior Students, dressed as Teachers,
give a wonderful performance
A small cultural function was held in the afternoon as well. This function was organized by Class 12 in honour of all the Teachers. The function was attended by reverend Swami Vishveshwaranandaji, Swami Devatmanandaji and Kumari Somashekhariji. A song - 'Hai Junoon', a wonderful classical dance 'Mere Dholna' and a few games were conducted. The efforts of the students were highly appreciated by everybody. The event was concluded by speeches of both Swami Vishveshwaranandaji and Swami Devatmanandaji.

Students interacting with Teacher
Shri Swami Vishveshwaranandaji's inspiring speech was as usual charming and spontaneous and touched the hearts of all Teachers and students. He thanked all of the Teachers, Principal and Staff for their dedicated and hard work, which has made Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam an excellent Educational Centre and achieved the credit of being one of the foremost Inter-Colleges of this area.
Shri Swami Devatmanandaji blessed each and everybody with his words of spiritual Wisdom.
