Day Celebration in Omkarananda Saraswati Nilayam

The 62nd Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on
15th August 2009. It is a Red Letter Day in the History of India.
On this day the students are charged with enthusiasm and patriotic
fervor fills every heart. The students of OSN were blessed by the
distinguished presence of the Chief Guest of the day Shri Swami
Vishveshwaranandaji Maharaj, and Swami Narasimhuluji Maharaj and
other reverend guests.
The cultural programme commenced
with the lighting of the lamp by Swami Vishveshwaranandaji. This
was followed by the patriotic song 'Vande Mataram'. Ms. Anjali
Rawat, the School Captain, in her speech highlighted the progress,
sacrifices and achievements of Indians, specially the
contributions of Garhwalis and Kumaonis in the freedom struggle of
India. The students of the Senior Wing depicted the struggle in
the form of a lovely choreography.
National Song by the
School Students
The students of Nursery and KG gave an enchanting performance,
which presented a Mini India before us.
A Rajasthani folk
dance namely 'Sawan Laagyo' was performed by the students of class
6th and 7th, followed by the famous patriotic Bengali song by
Rabindra Nath Tagore - 'Ekla Chalo Re'. This was sung by the
school choir.
A folk song 'Barsati Nadiya' was next
presented before the audience, which truly mesmerized them.
Patriotic Dance by the
Students
A synchronized choreography signifying the sacrifices and
pleasures of the families of Policemen and the Defense Personnel
was presented by the senior students. The cultural programme
ended with a patriotic song 'Bharat Desh Mahan' sung by all the
participants. As has been the tradition, the toppers of
each class were presented with cash prizes. It was really a proud
moment for the school and a happy occasion as more than 15
students of the ICSE Batch-2009 had scored above 90%. They were
all rewarded with cash prizes.
The birthday of Swami Narasimhuluji enhanced the day's programme.
Swami Vishveshwar'anandji congratulated the meritorious
students for their excellent results and motivated all for
achieving better results.
To
conclude the programme, our Honourable Principal Col. (Retd.) D.L.
Sachdeva, stressed upon the need to provide holistic education to
students by striking an equilibrium between academics and
co-curricular activities. He thanked reverend Swamiji and other
distinguished guests for participating in the Independence Day
Celebrations.
